Participation in the IAEA Conference on CTF

From 10 to 15 May 2021, employees of the IAE Branch RSE NNC RK took part in the largest International Fusion Energy Conference on research in the field of controlled thermonuclear fusion (https://www.iaea.org/events/fec-2020). Irina L. Tazhibayeva, Baurzhan Zh. Chektybayev, Anuar D. Sadykov, Arman Zh. Miniyazov, Igor A. Sokolov took part in the Conference. In total, six reports were presented: on the results of studies at the KTM Tokamak, the development of plasma diagnostic methods, studies of the first wall materials, on the results of the development of a plant for processing irradiated beryllium and a summary report was also presented on studies in the field of CTF in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In total, over 1000 people took part in the Conference. The Conference was held remotely via a virtual platform. The Conference was attended by scientists from the largest research centers and private companies with reports on the latest research and development results in the field of CTF. Great interest was shown in the reports presented by the IAE staff, and they were highly appreciated.

Within the framework of the Conference, virtual tours to the advanced CTF were carried out, including a technical tour to the site of the ITER International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor, which is currently under construction.
