LAVA-B TEST-BENCH

The facility is designed to simulate processes accompanying severe accidents in water-cooled power reactors with core melt. The LAVA-B is capable investigate Fuel Coolant Interaction (FCI) – interaction between fuel and coolant, Melt Coolant Concrete Interaction (MCCI)- interaction of fuel with concrete and reactor vessel material) with a corium prototype of total mass up to 60 kg at a melt temperature of 3000 °С.
