VCG-135 TEST-BENCH
The VChG-135 test-bench is designed to perform high-temperature material testing studies of small-sized samples and allows rapid heating of samples to a high (about 3000 °C) temperature with their subsequent cooling due to heat leaks into the water-cooled inductor when the generator is turned off.

Technical specifications of the test-bench:
Generator frequency ……………………………………………….. 66 kHz;
Working chamber inner diameter …………………………… 600 mm;
Working chamber height …………………………………………. 700 mm;
Inductor dimensions ……………………………………………….. Ø80×150, Ø120×150 mm;
Temperature sensors………………………………………………. thermocouples, pyrometers;
Gas medium in working chamber…………………………….. vacuum, argone;
Charged burden mass……………………………………………… 100-200 g
The main research areas conducted at the test-bench:
– study of the interaction between corium components when heating up to the melting point;
– study of the effectiveness of various methods of protecting a graphite crucible based on Zr, Nb, Ta carbides, etc.;
– determination of phase transition temperatures in corium of various compositions;
– study of high-temperature interactions of corium with structural materials;
– determination of the electrophysical properties of corium ;
– obtaining compact corium ingots of a given composition;
– application of a ZrC-based protective coating on the inner wall of graphite crucibles and on the outer surface of graphite parts.
