IAEA Inspection at the CRR IGR

Within the framework of the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on use of safeguards associated with the Treaty on Nuclear Weapon Non-Proliferation, in accordance with Clause 70 of INFCIRC/504, on March 15, 2021, an IAEA inspection with a short notice was carried out at the CRR IGR, Institute of Atomic Energy Branch of the RSE NNC RK.

In the course of works, IAEA inspectors examined the main logs and lists, measured nuclear materials and counted the accounting units in storage facilities, as well as verified and replaced the IAEA seals. There were no comments on the installation from the IAEA inspectors.

The IAEA’s inspection confirmed functioning of the accounting and control system of nuclear materials and compliance with the established guarantees in the Institute of Atomic Energy Branch of the RSE NNC RK.
