On January 27-28, 2021, the regular 13th Technical Working Meeting with representatives of the Japanese Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) on the EAGLE-3 Project was held via video conference. At the meeting, the Kazakhstani side presented results of the in-pile experiment (ID-6), carried out at the end of 2020, to study cooling the core material melt of a fast neutron reactor, moved to an area with a limited amount of coolant.

In addition, results of post-test examinations of the out-of-pile experiment FDCO-8 were carried out to study the melt movement throughout the simulator of the control rod guide tube of the reactor control and protection system, equipped with a limiting damper. Further, technical requirements for the forthcoming out-of-pile experiment IPCO-2 to study the interaction between sodium and a simulated melt and a plan of post-test examination with the ID-6 experimental device were agreed with the Japanese colleagues.

At the end of the meeting, Japanese specialists highly appreciated the obtained results and expressed their deep gratitude to the efforts made by the NNC specialists to implement the EAGLE-3 Program in the context of a pandemic.
