DEVELOPMENT OF A PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGIES AND HYDROGEN STORAGE TO FOSTER ALTERNATIVE ENERGY IN THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN
Currently, in the world there is an increased interest in scientific, instrumental and technological aspects of global transition to hydrogen energy, where the key points are the technologies for production, storage, transportation and extraction of hydrogen.
The “Institute of Atomic Energy” Branch of the RSE NNC RK conducts research and development work on the topics “Development of a Production Technology and Hydrogen Storage to Foster Alternative Energy in the Republic of Kazakhstan” (PCF MES PK, 2021-2023) and “Research of the Effect of Various Time-Temperature Parameters of Thermal Treatment on Formation of a Set of Alloy Properties based on Orthorhombic Titanium Aluminide” (STP ME RK, 2021-2023).
In the framework of the PCF MES RK topic, a modern experimental and research complex will be developed, a new method for producing hydrogen based on plasma methods will be obtained (Figure).
Installation for applied researches on receipt of hydrogen
The installation is based on a spherical analytical chamber (sphere diameter-about 450 mm, height with connecting flanges-about 600 mm) and a microwave generator (length-401 mm, height-250 mm) with a waveguide (length-500 mm, height-200 mm). The analytical chamber has an independent pumping system based on a turbomolecular pump with a pumping speed of 250 l/s (TMP-250 type) and a corresponding set of vacuum shut-off valves.
In the framework of the STP ME RK topic, the patterns of changes in the structural and phase state and physical and mechanical properties of alloys based on orthorhombic titanium aluminide Ti2AlNb, which is a sorption material for hydrogen storage, as well as influence of thermal-cycle processes on stability of their operational properties, are determined.
