NNP as an alternative to carbon energy

It is not so long ago, a foremost consideration of the need to explore alternative energy sources was the risk of carbon fuel reserve depletion within the Earth’s interior. Undoubtedly, this risk persists. Today, other vulnerabilities are at the fore: global climate change, disruption of planet’s thermal balance and atmosphere composition, problems of waste accumulation and access to resources, preservation of biodiversity and energy communication safety. Many of these problems may be solved or mitigated by transition from carbon fuels to alternative and more environmentally friendly ways of energy generation. Firstly this should include nuclear, and in the future, fusion energy.

Atomic energy – the only widescale energy that can save the planet from global warming caused by greenhouse gas emissions. This is the energy with minimal negative consequences for the environment and population compared to fossil-fueled electricity.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his message to the people of Kazakhstan, set the task to thoroughly study the possibility of creating safe and environmentally friendly atomic energy in the Republic of Kazakhstan considering urgent needs of the state.

Viktor V. Baklanov, First Deputy Director of the IAE Branch RSE NNC RK, in his interview to the correspondent of the newspaper “Kazakhstanskaya Pravda” spoke about atomic energy development as the world’s most promising type of energy generation, construction of nuclear power plants, hydrogen energy, personnel training for the nuclear industry.
