The technical meeting was held between specialists from JAEA, MUS, and the NNC under the international Post-EAGLE-3 Project

From November 3 to 5, 2025, the fifth technical meeting was held in Kurchatov between specialists from JAEA, MUS, and the NNC under the international Post-EAGLE-3 Project, which involves work on the feasibility study (FS) for conducting in-pile and out-of-pile research to support the design justification of the IV-Generation JSFR.

The main agenda of the technical meeting was to determine the status of the ongoing FS stages in accordance with the schedule for computational and theoretical studies, to discuss technical requirements and issues related to the design of in-pile and out-of-pile experimental devices, as well as to justify their test modes. The meeting also addressed the timing of FS stage completion, the report structure, and the materials to be submitted. Part of the time was dedicated to discussing the timeline for the preparation and approval of the draft of the new EAGLE-4 experimental program contract, which is scheduled for signing in June 2026. The JAEA team was represented by specialists who act as project customs and supervisors of the research conducted at the NNC experimental facilities.

Overall, the meeting was held at a high technical level. The JAEA partners provided positive feedback regarding the effective discussions on a range of technical issues and confirmed their understanding of the challenges related to the tight deadlines for completing the work stages.

Following the meeting, a minute was issued in which the parties agreed on further actions, commitments, and the next technical meeting, scheduled for January 26, 2026.
