Participation in the International Research and Practice Seminar on the Scientific Research Program at the Specialized KTM Tokamak

In the current month, the Rosatom State Corporation (Moscow) hosted a Working Group Meeting “Joint implementation of the project for the creation and implementation of a scientific research program at the specialized KTM Tokamak designed for research and testing of promising materials for fusion reactors” of the Commission states – CIS member on the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes. Representatives of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, the CIS Executive Committee, the International Cooperation Department of the ROSATOM State Corporation, the Commission Secretariat, attended the meeting.

On the Research Program, the results were summarized and decisions were taken, as follows:     

  • Consider the Scientific Research Program for 2018-2020 for the most part completed;
  • Recommend the development of a multifunctional probe at NRNU MEPhI for research in existing, developed and designed Russian tokamaks.
  • Continue research in accordance with the approved Scientific Research Program for 2021-2023;
  • The main goal of the Research Program for 2021-2023 is to obtain a plasma column of the KTM Tokamak with a divertor configuration in the ohmic heating mode.

Irina L. Tazhibayeva, Chief Researcher and Baurzhan Zh. Chektybayev, Head of the Thermonuclear Research Department, the Institute of Atomic Energy Branch NNC RK, took part in the International Research and Practice Seminar.
