Out-of-pile experiment to justify safety of fast neutron reactors

Pursuant to its contractual commitments under the EAGLE-3 International Project, specialists of the Institute of Atomic Energy Branch papered and successfully fulfilled final third experiment in a series of out-of-pile IPCO-3 tests. The purpose of this research series was obtaining of experimental data on a cooling nature of solidified but still hot corium melt at multiple quenching with liquid sodium coolant.

The third IPCO test differed from previous ones by change in location of temperature sensors and vacuum line.
