NNC RK Staff Participate as Invited Observers in ITPA and TCP-CTP Meetings and Announce Kazakhstan’s Intention to Join the IEA Tokamak Program

Employees of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NNC RK) took part in the meeting of the Coordinating Committee of the International Tokamak Physics Activity (ITPA), as well as in the 16th meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Energy Agency’s Technology Collaboration Program for Co-operation on Tokamak Programs (IEA TCP-CTP). The meetings were held at the premises of the ITER international organization. The NNC representatives participated as invited observers.

During the meetings, current research results within these programs were presented, covering controlled thermonuclear fusion, the development of diagnostic systems, studies of materials exposed to high-temperature plasma, as well as research plans of thematic groups for the upcoming period.

The representatives of the NNC RK announced Kazakhstan’s interest and readiness to join the IEA Tokamak Program. This initiative was positively received by members of both the ITPA and TCP-CTP. Participants expressed their interest in expanding international cooperation and voiced support for the potential accession of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Following formal approval from the member countries of the Program, it is expected that an official invitation to join as a full member will be extended to Kazakhstan, represented by the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy.

Participation in the meetings enabled NNC RK staff to strengthen professional ties, gain access to up-to-date scientific information, and discuss possible directions for future joint research.

The NNC RK will continue its active work to advance international cooperation and expand Kazakhstan’s contribution to global research in the field of controlled thermonuclear fusion.
