Coordinating Meeting

Coordinating Meeting on Research Reactor Conversion and Highly Enriched Uranium Disposition in Kazakhstan took place in Astana.

Representatives of RK Ministry of Energy, the US Department of Energy, National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan and National Laboratories took part in the Meeting.

Following the Meeting the participants discussed conversion of the IVG.1M and IGR research reactor to low-enriched uranium (LEU) fuel. To this date, all nine planned power startups have been successfully realized.

So, the IVG.1M reactor is at the final stage of its conversion and by this summer will be ready to go on reactor experiments within international projects and budget programs.

All the achievements were filled in the Protocol signed by the results of the Meeting.
