Consultative Meeting at the IAEA

From March 30 to April 1, the Consultancy Meeting was held in Vienna between representatives of the NNC RK, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the IAEA to discuss the reprocessing of the graphite fuel from the IGR reactor and related safety assurance issues, as well as to review ongoing research and development activities on the disposal of IVG.1M reactor fuel.

The meeting included a detailed review of the ongoing work, covering the fabrication of the hot cell and L-positioner for repackaging the fresh and spent fuel of the IGR reactor, construction and commissioning of the site for the IGR HEU fuel down-blending and immobilization, safeguards and non-proliferation issues related to this fuel, and the nuclear material accounting system throughout the fuel reprocessing.
