State Research Scholarships Awarded to Employees of the Institute of Atomic Energy
Following the competition, state research scholarships for talented young scientists were awarded to Baurzhan Chektybayev, Deputy Director for Fusion Research, and Kuanysh Samarkhanov, Senior Researcher of the In-Channel Testing Laboratory (Order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 596 dated December 29, 2025).
Baurzhan Chektybayev defended his PhD dissertation in 2019 in the specialty 6D072300 “Technical Physics” on the topic “Development of methods for diagnosing processes in plasma and on the first wall surface of a tokamak facility.” His scientific activity is related to the development of the national program of controlled thermonuclear fusion, the creation of a research base, and experimental studies at the KTM complex. He is one of the leading specialists of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of high-temperature plasma physics, plasma diagnostics, as well as engineering and scientific-technical support of research on tokamak-type facilities. He is the author and co-author of more than 50 scientific publications in national and international journals indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases.
Kuanysh Samarkhanov defended his PhD dissertation in 2025 in the educational program 8D05301 “Physics” on the topic “Experimental study of the processes of converting the energy of the products of the nuclear reaction 6Li(n,α)3H into optical radiation energy.” His research is aimed at developing the experimental base of the IAE branch and improving diagnostic methods for low-temperature nuclear-excited plasma. A significant part of his work is related to the development of experimental devices with a lithium excitation source for gas media to implement physical processes in the core of the IGR impulse nuclear reactor. He is the author and co-author of more than 50 scientific publications indexed in Web of Science and Scopus, as well as four invention patents.
Congratulations to our colleagues on this recognition! We wish them further professional success and exciting scientific results!
