Baklanov Viktor Vladimirovich
Director of the Institute of Atomic Energy Branch RSE NNC RK, PhD

In 2000, Viktor Baklanov graduated from East Kazakhstan State University (EKR, Ust-Kamenogorsk) majoring in Physics with the qualification of “Engineer-Physicist”. In 2009, he obtained a diploma in Management from the Open University IIM LINK. In 2017, he completed postgraduate studies at the National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University (NR TPU), successfully defended his thesis on the topic “Corium interaction with the vessel of a water-moderated power reactor during severe accidents”, and achieved the academic degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences. In 2018, he successfully went through the nostrification process, which led to him being awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physics.

He is author and co-author of over 130 scientific articles and conference reports for international scientific conferences, including 8 patents for inventions and utility models, more than 15 of his articles have been published in internationally ranked journals indexed in the Scopus and WoS databases. Hirsch index – 8.

Research interests include investigation in radiation materials science and nuclear reactor safety, SNF and RW management, developing the technological foundations for the synthesis of novel materials, etc.

Vycheslav Sergeyevich Gnyrya
Deputy Director for Tests

Vyacheslav S. Gnyrya joined the “Institute of Atomic Energy” Branch, RSE NNC RK in 2000 after graduation from the Physics and Technology Faculty of Tomsk Polytechnic University with a degree in Nuclear Reactors and Power Facilities, qualification is Engineer-Physicist. In 2017, he started the postgraduate course at NR TPU majoring in Condensed Matter Physics. V.S. Gnyrya is the author and co-author of over 50 published scientific efforts.

Research interest: comprehensive material research for nuclear and fusion reactors, research for nuclear power safety, development and practical application of regulatory and technical documentation for operating reactors and experimental facilities.

 

 

 

 


Miniyazov A.Zh.

Arman Zhanarbekovich Miniyazov
Deputy Director, PhD

In 2009, Arman Miniyazov graduated from D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan State Technical University with a degree in Technical Physics, and in 2011, he obtained a Master of Science degree in Physics. From 2013 to 2014, he participated in a research program at the Reactor Research Institute of Kyoto University, Japan. In 2017, he completed training at the Human Resource Development Center in the Nuclear Industry of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency in Tokai, Japan.

In 2022, he completed his doctoral studies in the educational program ‘Technical Physics’ at Shakarim University in Semey, defending his PhD dissertation in Technical Physics. In 2023, he completed an International Joint Course of the IAEA with the China Institute of Atomic Energy College in Nuclear Energy Management in Beijing, China. He is the author and co-author of over 90 publications, including 12 patents for inventions and utility models, with more than 30 articles published in international peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus and WoS databases. His Hirsch index – 8.

Research interests: reactor materials science, alternative energy, research on the safety justification of nuclear power.

 

 


Chektybaev B.Zh.

Baurzhan Zhambulovich Chektybayev
Deputy Director for Fusion Research, PhD, Associate Professor

In 2007, Baurzhan Chektybaev graduated from Shakarim State University of Semipalatinsk with a degree in Nuclear Reactors and Power Plants. In 2009, he obtained a Master of Science degree in Thermal Power Engineering. In 2019, he completed his doctoral studies in the educational program ‘Technical Physics’ at Shakarim University of Semey, defending his PhD dissertation in Technical Physics. In 2025, he was awarded the academic degree of Associate Professor. During his career, he has undergone various advanced training courses and internships, including at facilities such as JT-60U, FTU, MAST, and JET. He is the author and co-author of over 50 publications, including articles in international peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus and WoS databases.

Research interests: controlled thermonuclear fusion, diagnostics and physics of high-temperature plasma, testing of first wall and divertor materials, development and improvement of fusion technologies, as well as experimental methods and facilities for fusion research.

Alexander Genadyevich Korovikov
Chief Engineer, PhD

In 2000, Alexander G. Korovikov graduated from the Tomsk University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (Tomsk) with a degree in Industrial Electronics, qualification is Electronics Engineer. In 2009, he obtained a Diploma of Management from the Open University IIM LINK. In 2013, he completed postgraduate studies at NR TPU with a degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences. In 2017, following the nostrification he was awarded a degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Automation and Control. A.G. Korovikov is the author and co-author of over 30 published scientific efforts.

Research interest: process flow automation, information security.
