NNC RK Participated in an Event Commemorating the 35th Anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk Test Site.

On August 28, an educational historical event entitled “Kazakhstan – A Country Without Nuclear Weapons” was held in the village of Koktobe, Pavlodar region, to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the closure of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site.

Representatives of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in the event, presenting a report on the role of the NNC RK in addressing the legacy of nuclear testing, ensuring radiation and nuclear safety, conducting scientific research, and developing technologies for the peaceful use of atomic energy.

The participants discussed the historical significance of the closure of the Semipalatinsk test site, preserving the memory of the consequences of nuclear tests, and the continued development of Kazakhstan as a nation consistently advocating for safety, nonproliferation, and the peaceful use of atomic energy.

Today, the unique experience gained by Kazakhstan serves as a foundation for the further advancement of domestic nuclear science, modern technologies, and the development of new scientific competencies.
