Roundtable on Nuclear Heritage and Peaceful Atomic Science and the Planting of “Peace Alley”

As part of the roundtable “35 Years Since the Closure of the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site: From Nuclear Testing to Peaceful Atomic Science,” the Director of the Institute of Atomic Energy of the RSE NNC RK took part in discussions regarding the peaceful use of atomic energy and safety. The event was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Atomic Energy Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gumar Sergazin, Deputy Akim of the Abai Region Meirlan Rakhanov, Head of the Pavlodar Region Akim’s Office, Deputy Akim of the Mai District Adlet Syzdykbaev, alongside representatives of government agencies, and the scientific and expert community. A welcoming address was sent by the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akylbek Kurishbaev.

The roundtable was followed by the planting of “Peace Alley” on the premises of the NNC RK. The planted trees symbolize Kazakhstan’s historical journey from a nuclear testing ground to a space of science, safety, and peaceful creation.
