INESS 2026 Conference Highlights
Between 5-7 August 2026, in Astana, Nazarbayev University hosted the International Conference on Nanomaterials and Advanced Energy Storage Systems (INESS-2026).
INESS-2026 – one of the largest international scientific conferences dedicated to modern achievements in material science, nanotechnology, ecology, renewable energy, and energy storage systems.
The INESS-2026 program was devoted to modern achievements in the field of highly efficient materials, energy storage and conversion systems, electrochemical technologies, artificial intelligence in materials science, sensor systems, catalysis, materials for nuclear energy, as well as issues of commercialization of scientific developments and industrial transformation.
The “Institute of Atomic Energy” (IAE) Branch of the RSE “National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan” was represented at the conference by researchers from the In-Pile Testing Laboratory, Experimental Thermal Physics Laboratory, Laboratory for the Investigation of Thermal-Hydraulic and Neutronic Characteristics of Irradiation Devices, Hydrogen and Plasma Technologies Laboratory, as well as the Advanced Materials Laboratory of the Technology Competence Center for Hydrogen Energy.
During the conference, researchers from the IAE presented the results of their studies in key areas of nuclear and hydrogen energy development.
Among the Institute’s presentations, Yerzhan Kabdylkakov, Researcher at the Laboratory for the Investigation of Thermal-Hydraulic and Neutronic Characteristics of Irradiation Devices, delivered a presentation entitled “Numerical Simulation of the Thermal State of an Electroslag Remelting Mold During the Processing of Solid Radioactive Waste.” Kuanyshbek Toleubekov, Senior Researcher at the Experimental Thermal Physics Laboratory, presented “Assessment of Volume and Radiological Characteristics of Solid Radioactive Waste Generated During the Decommissioning of the BN-350 Reactor.” Both studies were carried out within the framework of the program-targeted funding project “Research to Substantiate the Selection and Implementation of a Technology for the Processing of Solid Radioactive Waste” (IRN BR24993118).
