NNC RK presented its experience in transient testing at the IGR reactor at the IRC MBIR meeting
On September 29, 2026, the third meeting of the Advisory Board of the International Research Center based on the MBIR reactor (IRC MBIR) was held in Tashkent. Representatives of scientific organizations and the nuclear industry from several countries took part in the event.
The National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan presented a report titled “Experience of the NNC RK in conducting transient tests at the IGR reactor for computational code validation and potential contribution to the IRC MBIR research program.”
The report presented the results and prospects of using the IGR reactor for testing fuel and materials under transient and accident conditions, including work related to the BREST reactor and the international EAGLE and SAIGA projects.
Special attention was paid to the use of IGR experimental data for the validation of neutron-physical and thermophysical computational models.
The prospects for cooperation between the NNC RK and IRC MBIR participants in the field of advanced fuel and materials research, as well as computational code validation, were also discussed.
