Technical meeting within the framework of the EAGLE-4 experimental program

From September 7 to 9, the first technical meeting under the new Contract for the EAGLE-4, experimental program took place in Kurchatov between specialists from JAEA, MUS и NNC RK. The EAGLE-4 project is continuation of long-term research to support the design of the fourth-generation JSFR reactor, which involves conducting in -pile and out-of-pile experiments at the facilities of the NNC RK. The main agenda of the technical meeting included: discussing work execution plans, reviewing the preparation status of out-of-pile and in-pile experiments, discussing technical requirements for experimental devices and their testing modes, presenting the results of thermophysical calculations, and agreeing on the content of the interim progress report.

The team of JAEA technical specialists, who are the customers of the work and the supervisors of the research, was headed by Mr. Yurugi Kanzaki, Deputy Senior Director General of JAEA. The delegation also included representatives of MUS, who facilitate the interaction between the customer and the contractor.

Overall, the meeting was held at high technical level. The partners from JAEA provided positive feedback regarding the effective discussions of the essential issues and contractual obligations. The parties confirmed their understanding of the challenges associated with the contract execution, deadlines, and the strict conditions for fulfilling the experimental schedule.

Following the meeting, a protocol was issued in which the parties agreed on further actions and obligations. The main task of the joint JAEA and NNC team for the near future is the preparation of the interim progress report in accordance with the schedule, with its submission planned for October 2026.
